Overview

(Greater New Orleans, LA / Houston, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a

Field Technician

to support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic and IT-related systems onboard marine vessels. This position is ideal for a hands-on, technically inclined individual with a background in automotive, electrical, carpentry, or similar trades who is looking to transition further into IT-style and electronics-focused work. Most work will be performed onboard vessels rather than in an office environment.
Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot marine electronic systems onboard vessels
Work with systems including AIS, GPS, wind gauges, serial-based equipment, cellular systems, and onboard networks
Perform cable runs, termination, and testing (Cat6, serial, power, etc.)
Conduct soldering and hardware-level repairs as required
Diagnose connectivity, power, and hardware issues in marine environments
Travel to job sites and vessels throughout the Greater NOLA area and Houston region
Collaborate with project teams to complete onboard installations and upgrades efficiently
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and systems installed
Requirements/Skills

Hands-on technical experience in automotive, electrical, carpentry, or similar trades
Strong mechanical aptitude with comfort using tools and working with wiring
Willingness and ability to travel up to 90%, including overnight travel
Comfortable working onboard vessels and in field-based environments
Basic understanding of networking, cabling, and electronic systems
Physical Requirements

Ability to work in confined spaces onboard vessels
Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and lift equipment as required for installations
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions common to marine settings
