Overview
Client is a large global systems integrator. Their AV team is expanding and there is work to support 2 additional roles with backgrounds similar to AV Engineers already placed. Position based in the Bay Area, California. Travel is a core requirement, up to 50% (ideally travel throughout the US). Travel will be covered by the client. This role requires knowledge of AV from design, BOM, and implementation perspectives, and onsite install experience. The role involves setting up conference rooms versus AV for online or TV broadcasting.
Responsibilities
Implementing audio-visual systems tailored to client needs
Performing installation and setup of AV equipment such as projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing tools
Conducting troubleshooting of AV systems
Configuring and calibrating AV equipment to ensure optimal performance
Providing technical support and training for users on AV system operation
Collaborating with network engineers to integrate AV systems into network infrastructure
Managing and documenting inventory of equipment and accessories
Staying up-to-date with the latest AV technologies and industry trends
Understanding detailed system installation diagrams and technical drawings/documentation
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
Duties
Design and Documentation Expertise
Proficient in reviewing architectural, MEP, and AV schematics and construction drawings
Skilled at identifying design conflicts, integration issues, and coordination gaps
Able to provide detailed technical recommendations and value-engineering solutions
Familiar with UK building regulations and standards affecting AV installations
Testing, Calibration, and Analysis
Experience in acoustic analysis including STC, RT60, and ambient noise measurements
Calibrating DSPs, equalizers, speaker arrays, and microphones for audio clarity
Testing and adjusting lighting systems for coverage, uniformity, and DALI/DMX protocols
Evaluating AV scenarios to optimize performance and user experience
Cabling and Installation Mastery
Advanced knowledge of structured cabling for Network/Data (Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre); Video (HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort, HDBaseT); Audio (Analog, AES/EBU, Dante, XLR); Electrical (Low-voltage and AV power circuits)
Skilled in compliant cable routing, containment installation, and patching
Adheres to BS 7671 and UK standards for safe and high-quality wiring practices
Systems Integration and Commissioning
Configuring and integrating AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, QSC, etc.)
Install and commission conferencing systems, projectors, displays, and audio processors
Conduct rigorous system testing, diagnostics, and performance verification
Deliver comprehensive handovers including documentation, client training, and snag resolution
Advanced AV Application Knowledge
Expert in AV-over-IP deployments (e.g., Dante, NDI, SDVoE)
Familiar with AV software platforms and remote monitoring tools
Skilled in interfacing AV systems with building automation and IT networks
Skills & Qualifications

Compensation and Benefits
Pay range: $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
