
Quality Improvement Research Analyst - Surgery

Description
The Quality Improvement Research Analyst is responsible for preparing data abstractions and analyses of clinical data; assisting in the design and testing of data collection instruments and assisting in project management and research activities. As a member of the project team, the QI/RA assists in project management and research activities. The Quality Improvement Research Analyst handles the identification, abstraction and analysis of clinical data pertinent to clinical quality improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Data Abstraction: Clinical data abstraction from Medical Records and other sources.
Maintains study log and case reports.
Tracking of requests for data sources, i.e. Medical Records.
Conducts data abstractions to ensure reliability of data collected by participating health system hospitals for particular Quality Improvement projects.
Development of Data Collection Instruments
Assists Project Manager and Principal Investigator in design of data collection tools (chart review tools, patient questionnaires, etc.).
Collaborates with the Project Team on designing and testing computerized data collection instruments.
Participates in pilot testing of data collection instruments.
Development of training materials:
Assists in development of training materials.
Assists in providing training to other clinical abstractors from health system participating hospitals.
Administrative and Research Activities
Conducts literature searches for articles on various topics and presents findings to Principal Investigator of Project.
Summarizes and synthesizes key clinical information from literature sources for use by the Principal Investigator.
Assist Project Manager in providing staff support for committees and team meetings.
Provides training to clinical abstractors from health system participating hospitals.
Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in related science field.
3 years in research and/or data analysis or related experience.
Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,661 - $74,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
