It is the goal of the Library Media Specialist to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral part of the instructional program. The responsibilities of the Library Media Specialist include:
Collaborating with teachers and other staff to make connections between student information needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources
Providing leadership and expertise in the acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources across all platforms
Using effective management principles in developing, implementing, and evaluating the library media program
Preparing, justifying, and administering the library media program budget according to specific program goals
Providing instructional coaching to teachers and other staff
Planning lessons for weekly library classes
Overseeing daily operations across five elementary school libraries, ensuring consistent program implementation
Supporting library assistants in the execution of daily tasks and instructional programs
