We are the Vision Controls Engineer II. The role will serve as Lear’s expert engineer for all vision applications. The engineer will use their extensive knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to select the appropriate vision system for each application. Responsibilities include developing concepts, designing the system, installing, training plant personnel, and providing post‑handoff support.
Nature of Work
The Vision Controls Engineer II will be Lear’s expert engineer for all vision applications. The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to choose the correct vision system for each application. The candidate will develop the concept, design the system, install, train the receiving plant, and provide support for the vision system post handoff to the plant.
Examples of Work Performed
Following health, safety, environmental regulations, and safety protocols, (LOTO)
Building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among all team members
Communicating across cross‑functional groups
Being responsible for projects from technical specification to startup support
Designing and developing all aspects of vision control systems, equipment, and programming using Lear standards and building upon with innovative ideas
Writing, implementing, and debugging PLC software
Providing support to existing Lear vision equipment globally
Developing contingency and disaster recovery plans
Minimum Qualifications
Three years’ experience in a controls/vision engineering role.
Must be a self‑starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude.
Must be a creative thinker, results‑oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio.
Knowledgeable of Keyence and Cognex cameras.
Must have ability to prioritize, multi‑task and meet deadlines.
C or C++ programming capabilities.
Knowledge of machine learning with AI capabilities.
Self‑driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if required.
Willingness to travel globally – up to 30‑50%.
