Leidos Defense is seeking a talented Section Manager - High Speed Digital Design and Analysis to join our team to create unique solutions for complex problems. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. The individual selected for this position will be a working manager responsible for supervising a team of Electrical Design Engineers while also contributing to programs for internal and external customers. As a manager, the individual will develop and grow their team to support organizational objectives with an emphasis on scaling and quality improvement. As a technical contributor and leader, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems. The individual will be expected to manage their time and priorities effectively to ensure both project and organizational success.
The individual must be a self-starter with strong technical skills and a proven history of technical leadership. The individual must also have excellent communication skills and a desire to build and develop a team to tackle challenging technical problems.
Primary Responsibilities Provide technical oversight and mentorship to develop team members
Develop strong working relationships with team members to meet productivity and retention goals
Conduct regular staff meetings and one-on-ones with team members
Scale the team by identifying hiring needs, writing job postings, coordinating screening of applicants, interviewing on-site, and making hiring recommendations
Architect, design, develop and test complex PCB designs utilizing embedded microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs or SoCs to meet system requirements
Propose and implement ideas to improve organizational quality, agility, and capability
Support organizational business development goals and initiatives by providing technical input to proposals
Perform necessary reporting, approvals, and other administrative tasks
Provide technical input to program leadership during the planning and execution of engineering projects
Perform hardware system development from developing/deriving requirements to employing appropriate techniques for design, fabrication, integration, and test
Work split between management tasks and technical tasks is expected to be ~ 25% management, 75% technical

Basic Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related technical field and 8+ years of prior relevant experience.
2+ years of demonstrated experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
5+ years of experience in high-speed digital PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs.
Experience with high-speed design analysis tools such as HyperLynx.
Experience with multiple high-speed serial communication standards and memory interfaces (e.g. GigE, 10 GigE, Aurora, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, JESD204B, PCIe, SATA).
Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
Ability to decompose system-level considerations (i.e. requirements) to lower design levels.
Capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
Proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components.
Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
U.S. Citizen and eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications Master\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university (preferred).
Preference shown to candidates with experience and/or working knowledge of:
Personnel management including hiring, employee development, and staffing coordination
Evaluating and implementing processes improvement initiatives
Project management including cost and schedule oversight
Business development activities including developing briefings, white papers, and proposals
Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace system

Pay and Benefits Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in offering include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
