About the Role
Join Blue Origin’s In‑Space Systems business unit to design, analyze, and test avionics enclosures for electronic components on various spacecraft. The role reports to the Spacecraft Avionics section of the Blue National Security business unit and involves cross‑disciplinary collaboration with electrical engineers to design PCB systems, support electronics development, conduct trade studies, create technical data packages, and manage product configuration through its lifecycle. You will also support test planning and execution.

Responsibilities

Perform thermal and structural analyses of avionics enclosures and PCBA components.

Validate requirements through various testing methods.

Create engineering detail and assembly drawings.

Conduct trade studies for PCB system integration.

Manage product configuration throughout the lifecycle.

Support test planning and execution.

Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electro‑mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.

2+ years of experience designing electro‑mechanical avionics assemblies.

Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred).

Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).

Experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high‑performance hardware.

Experience in PCBA integration (ECAD/MCAD), connector selection, and manufacturing; familiarity with EMI, thermal, and structural protection of PCBA components.

Experience in bonding, grounding, sealing, and venting of electrical components and enclosures.

Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC‑S‑016), MIL‑STD‑810, and related PCB standards.

Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks.

Strong communication skills for presenting analysis results.

Desired

Thermal and structural analysis of avionics enclosures and PCBA components.

Experience with Steinberg or Engelmeier solder‐fatigue calculations.

Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).

Experience with Windchill or other PLM systems.

Familiarity with harness design per IPC‑A‑620.

Compensation

California applicants: $107,136.00 – $149,990.40

Colorado applicants: $98,208.00 – $137,491.20

Washington applicants: $107,136.00 – $149,990.40
