Job Opportunity

Under general supervision, keeps the new Parks and Recreation Center interiors clean and orderly; performs a variety of custodial and minor building maintenance duties as assigned.
Job responsibilities include:
Performing custodial tasks including vacuuming floors, cleaning desks and other furniture
Emptying waste receptacles, washing interior and exterior windows and walls, cleaning restrooms, and replenishing supplies
Maintaining floor surfaces including stripping, waxing, sealing and carpet extraction
Preparing room and facility set up for meetings, sports functions and private rentals
Providing assistance with issues that arise as a result of such functions
May provide general maintenance and minor plumbing, electrical and building repairs
Providing maintenance of gymnasium equipment and floors
Working with supervisor to keep supplies stocked as needed
Conducting inspections of buildings and grounds periodically during work schedule to determine cleaning, repairs and maintenance needed
Reporting to supervisor any major work needed
Following appropriate procedures for disposing of hazardous materials and conforming to city guidelines
Assisting in the transportation and setting up of recreation equipment for special events
Providing monthly checks on all security lights and repairs/replaces as needed
Interacting with all City Departments to meet the needs for cleaning, setups, and maintenance
Additional functions include:
Performing other related duties as required
Minimum qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED; six months of related experience; possess a valid GA Driver's License; knowledge of tools, materials working practices, and methods of custodial maintenance; knowledge of safe working methods and procedures; skill in the use of various hand tools, custodial and building maintenance equipment; skill in the safe and lawful operation of a motor vehicle; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; ability to utilize physical strength and agility sufficient to perform cleaning and building maintenance tasks; ability to listen well and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various audiences; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, management, other agencies, and the general public.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, wetness, fumes, hazardous materials, heights, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, disease, or rude/irate customers.
