Job Summary
The Planner will be responsible for properly planning and scheduling all work orders to launch sales order demands to the production floor in support of established product lead‑times and on‑time delivery targets. The planner will also manage inventory of all work in process and finished goods, serve as the primary liaison between production and order administration/sales, and maintain the facility’s MRP and scheduling system.

Roles & Responsibilities

Develop and implement the production schedule for the manufacturing work cell and purchasing function, considering available capacity, material availability, finished‑good level production order requirements, and optimal production order sequencing.

Maintain and prioritize queues within the work cell dispatch center, issue kit releases to support build schedules, and ensure proper transfer of completed assemblies with WIP to the next level assembly or finished goods.

Review material/purchase order due dates to ensure late deliveries are expedited in accordance with production schedule requirements. Verify status of components and delinquent material, maintaining shortage records.

Provide input and oversight of routings, run rate, and SIOP forecast to support material resource planning (MRP) requirements.

Provide direction to purchasing regarding part‑number specific supply‑chain strategies and urgency.

Coordinate and expedite the flow of parts, sub‑assemblies, and material to work cells to ensure production schedule and customer commitments are met.

Participate in production meetings, providing priorities and material status to the production team.

Analyze inventory for slow moving, non‑moving, excess, or obsolete items, coordinate reduction activities, analyze inventory variances, and suggest/follow up on corrective actions to avoid stock‑outs or excess materials.

Administer timely disposition of material and implement changes according to engineering change orders and end‑of‑life plans, minimizing exposure to excess and obsolete material.

Work as a member of continuous improvement project teams, including visual factory floor controls, 5S, and lean enterprise solutions.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

Bachelor’s degree in business administration (Planning, Manufacturing, Production Control or related discipline) and either 1 year of experience or 5 years of experience in manufacturing, production control/planning, materials management or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with material requirement planning tools (MRP) and working knowledge of master scheduling principles and application.

Understanding of supply‑chain management concepts, including two‑bin replacement models and reorder‑point models.

Experience with materials transactions, including back‑flush methodologies.

Advanced Microsoft Office applications, with spreadsheet capabilities, including formulas, data reporting and charting.
