Under the leadership of the Senior Business Development Manager for Litigation, this position will formulate, manage, and implement strategic initiatives to raise the profile of the Firm for assigned litigation practice groups and Firm offices, as well as support individual attorneys in their marketing and business development efforts. After an initial period of training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Serves as primary marketing team member to assigned litigation practice groups, individual attorneys, and Firm offices to develop and execute marketing and business development initiatives, including creation and execution of business development plans; responses to requests for proposals; and client presentations, seminars and events (including post-event follow up).

Identifies and supports brand-building opportunities; supports external marketing events and sponsorships by acting as point person with attorneys, event planners, design groups, local office staff and others as needed.

Responsible for proposal and pitch strategy and development. Participates in team meetings, gathers input/data, drafts responses and materials, ensures that final product is effective, accurate and delivered on time. Works with the Library to conduct research on potential clients.

Contributes to and is responsible for maintaining proper knowledge management within the Firm for assigned practice groups. Assists national teams in collecting attorney experience, ensuring representative matters, case outcomes, and experience are current, accessible, and effectively leveraged in pitches and marketing materials.

Partners with and coaches attorneys on personal branding and visibility, including bio updates, content creation, conference attendance, and social media strategy.

Identifies and manages relationships with civic, business, and trade associations that align with marketing goals.

Works with new lateral partner hires on practice establishment and overall Firm integration.

Provides general editing and proofreading of all marketing collateral content in multiple communication channels, including print materials, website materials (such as attorney bios, and client alerts), social media, and PR/media placements.

Collaborates with the Director, Marketing & Communications regarding press releases, article placement and attorney PR support.

Works with attorneys to develop and execute business development plans; identifies and evaluates new business opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

Must possess strong client service orientation, excellent communication skills, project management, and the ability to generate immediate credibility with Firm attorneys.

Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.

Must have ability to read, write and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.

Must possess attention to detail, the ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced setting, be proactive in partnering with attorneys and stakeholders, and have strong time management skills.

Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.

Ability to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.

Ability to travel as necessary.

This is a full-time position which requires working a minimum of 40 hours on a regular basis. Oftentimes, it may also require working outside of normal business hours to ensure the completion of position requirements.

Experience And Education Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a professional setting required.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in marketing or business development required, prior law firm experience strongly preferred, although other professional service experience will be considered.
