This highly visible role partners directly with firm leadership and top‑tier attorneys across IP, complex commercial, securities, and employment litigation. The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in shaping and executing growth strategy through sophisticated market intelligence, client development initiatives, and high‑impact pursuits.
Locations: San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Santa Monica, Seattle, NYC, or Boston (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities Lead market research, competitive intelligence, and business analysis to identify and execute on strategic growth opportunities
Partner with practice leaders and attorneys to develop and implement client relationship strategies and cross‑selling initiatives
Oversee high-profile RFPs, pitches, and experience management efforts
Drive thought leadership, events, and profile‑raising initiatives to enhance market presence
Collaborate cross‑functionally on lateral partner integration and ensure seamless onboarding and client transition
Develop and track key metrics to optimize BD performance and demonstrate ROI
Mentor and manage junior BD professionals while enhancing overall team effectiveness
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or JD preferred
5+ years of business development experience within a law firm environment
Strong understanding of the legal and business needs of technology‑driven industries (e.g., software, life sciences, venture capital, IP)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into compelling messaging
Proven ability to manage high‑profile projects, including pitches, proposals, and client initiatives
Advanced proficiency in CRM systems, data analysis, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders
