
Practice Development Manager

Overview
The Practice Development Manager – Litigation partners with litigation attorneys and practice leaders to drive growth through strategic business development, marketing, and client engagement initiatives. Serving as the primary BD and marketing advisor to litigation practices, this role focuses on advancing client relationships, strengthening market positioning, and supporting high-impact pursuits. The position offers meaningful autonomy and leadership responsibility, including supervision of a Practice Development Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth: Partner with practice leaders to develop and execute business development strategies for litigation practices; identify and advance growth opportunities, including cross-selling, client expansion, and new business pursuits; coordinate attorney teams on pitches and proposals, managing opportunities from concept through execution; support lateral partner integration through targeted client planning and marketing support; monitor litigation, industry, and market trends to inform strategy and opportunity development; conduct and oversee client, industry, and competitive research to support pitches and client planning; help increase visibility in priority markets through strategic networking and industry engagement; develop persuasive, client-focused pitches and RFP responses; manage RFP processes, including drafting, coordination, and tracking outcomes; prepare partners for key client meetings, interviews, and presentations; oversee development of practice and pursuit-specific collateral; lead legal directory and awards submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500), including drafting and reference management; identify PR- and award-worthy matters and collaborate with media relations partners; support speaking engagements, sponsorships, and conference participation.
Content, Digital & Events: Develop and maintain practice-related content, including website copy and marketing collateral; drive thought leadership initiatives such as articles, client alerts, blogs, and newsletters; coordinate litigation-focused webinars, seminars, and client events with internal teams; supervise and mentor a Practice Development Coordinator, ensuring timely, high-quality execution of initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Marketing or Business preferred. MBA or JD a plus.
7–9 years of marketing and business development experience in professional services; law firm experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience supporting litigation practices.
Prior supervisory experience required.
Strong strategic, writing, project management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and perform well under pressure.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with WordPress, Adobe InDesign, and CRM platforms (e.g., Intapp, Salesforce, Foundation).
Familiarity with marketing and financial databases preferred.
