Business Development Manager (50% Travel)

Position Overview
A growing advanced‑materials manufacturer is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to expand market presence and drive profitable revenue growth. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities, cultivating strong customer relationships, and promoting the company’s engineered material solutions across multiple high‑performance industries. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong commercial instincts and excels at building long‑term partnerships.

Core Function
Represent the organization to prospective and existing customers, execute growth‑focused sales strategies, and promote the company’s technical capabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of engineered materials, the ability to communicate complex value propositions, and the drive to expand business within targeted markets.

Key Responsibilities

Achieve assigned strategic sales and account objectives.

Proactively identify, prospect, and develop new customer accounts.

Respond to customer inquiries and collaborate with internal teams—including product development, engineering, operations, and quality—to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.

Participate in trade shows, deliver technical presentations (virtual and onsite), and host customer visits.

Manage key accounts by building and maintaining strong, long‑term relationships.

Prepare quotations, address customer objections, and drive opportunities to closure.

Use CRM tools to track opportunities and contribute to quarterly forecasts, annual plans, and long‑range strategic planning.

Coordinate with internal departments to ensure clear communication and on‑time delivery of customer requirements.

Support colleagues across the Sales team to ensure seamless customer coverage.

Follow ISO‑aligned work instructions and recommend improvements when needed.

Adhere to all applicable safety procedures and company protocols.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or customer‑facing roles within relevant industries.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.

Proven ability to influence decision‑makers and drive complex sales cycles.

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Demonstrated professionalism, polished presentation skills, and a customer‑centric mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling engineered components or materials into markets such as aerospace, defense, automotive, optical communications, or power semiconductors.

Familiarity with government or defense‑related procurement environments.

Creative thinker with the ability to propose innovative solutions to customer challenges.

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel as required.
