Role Overview
The Structural Design Engineer specializes in load-bearing components, structural systems, and durability-critical assemblies. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong FEA skills, materials knowledge, and experience designing products that must withstand demanding field conditions
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis, FEA, and load simulations
Develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings
Design structural components for strength, durability, and manufacturability
Validate designs through testing and iterative refinement
Collaborate with suppliers on materials, processes, and tolerances
Support failure analysis and continuous improvement
Qualifications
2-4 years of structural engineering experience
Strongproficiencyin 3D CAD and simulation tools
Deep understanding of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, polymers)
Experience designing for injection molding, machining, and metal fabrication
Strong analytical and testing skills
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Location & Work Format
This role will be based at our headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI. The expectation is to be onsite in our design studio for a minimum of 3 days per week. Remote focus work for enhancing personal productivity can beleveraged1-2 days per week whereappropriate. Experienced candidates can be provided with up to3months of remote work before transitioning to Grand Rapids to allow for an earlier start date.
