Job Description
The Needs Assessment and Referral Counselorprovidestelephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determinesappropriate levelof care,facilitatesthe admissionprocessandmaintainscommunication with referral sources, families,patientsand unit staff.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able todemonstratecompetency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet theminimumrequirements for this position. Staff mustdemonstrateknowledge and skill in provision of services tovariedpopulation of patients in an inpatient and partial hospital setting.
Education/Licensure: Licensed Physicians, APRN's, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Social Workers,Licensed Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses,Masters in Social Work,Masters in Counseling, Masters in Marriage and

Family Therapy, orMasters of Psychologyrequired.
Experience: Prior intake, assessment,admissionand crisis intervention experience with a psychiatricmentalhealth population, preferably in aninpatientsetting.
Licensure/Certification: N/A
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnosesSymptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behaviormanagement.
