
Specialist, Store Design

The Specialist, Store Design, will play a key role in collaborating with the Project Manager to develop inspiring retail environments that reflect Build‑A‑Bear’s brand identity and deliver an outstanding guest experience.
Responsibilities Design Execution Work with new store Tenant Coordinators and Architects
Creating 2D/3D visual presentation drawings & technical sketches to communicate concepts
Assist in creating floor plans, store designs, and fixtures for new concepts with challenging spaces
Create interior and exterior elevations for effective space management, fixtures, and graphic design
Project Oversight Coordinating multiple store projects concurrently and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery
Collect, evaluate, and respond to internal and external stakeholders on design adjustments
Effectively manage communications, weekly meetings, and follow-up coordination
Review Tenant Design Guidelines to identify potential issues or opportunities during the design stage
Liaison with Tenant Coordinators at the beginning of construction projects to address design elements in accordance with the Tenant Design Guide ensuring the best possible results
Reviews blueprints and fixture & graphic orders for accuracy
Maintenance & Operations Organizing design libraries and archiving assets
Support communication and project update presentations Executive and Interdepartmental Review
Update and maintain the Store Development Report
Maintains inventory database for used fixtures and stuffers
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Architecture, Engineer, or related field
3 years of experience in store design or retail space planning
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop or similar design software
Strong understanding of design principles, space planning, and construction techniques
Preferred Qualifications 5+ year of experience with retail store design in a corporate or agency environment
Knowledge of sustainable design practices
Familiarity with ADA and building code regulations
Portfolio showcasing store design projects
Proficiency Auto CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp
