Job Summary
Mason City Schools' Learning Experience Designers (LEDs) are teachers on special assignment who are catalysts in ensuring Mason City Schools offer innovative learning environments of choice for students and families and that we are recognized as an excellent place for educators to learn and grow. LEDs are cross-curricular, district-wide team members who support teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators within a specific grade-level span. They are responsive to building and district needs, identifying and implementing strategic, innovative, research-grounded responses to identified opportunities.
Mason City Schools is committed to ensuring each and every Comet discovers their purpose and potential through exciting endeavors such as the launch of personalized professional learning pathways to empower every staff member, the development of student portfolios to celebrate growth and reflection, and the exploration of interdisciplinary pathways that spark creativity and innovation. LEDs will be at the heart of these efforts, leading the way in bringing these impactful projects to life.
This position is a role that requires up to a three (3) year commitment. Every three years, this position is evaluated and revised, as needed, to ensure its continued alignment with the district's vision, values, and needs. At the conclusion of each three-year cycle, the position is re‑opened for applications. LEDs who do not continue in the role may move into other leadership positions or serve as an educator in a model classroom. This position is for the 2025-2028 cycle and will be up for renewal at the conclusion of the 2027-2028 school year. The position is for an elementary level LED.
LED Job Responsibilities
Design and facilitate personalized professional learning pathways aligned to district goals, including workshops, asynchronous learning opportunities, and ongoing support for PK-12 educators.
Support new teacher onboarding and development, providing 1:1 or small group coaching to help new teachers thrive in our Comet Community.
Design and lead collaborative, personalized coaching cycles in which educators identify learning needs, set transparent goals, and monitor progress to achieve related key goals/outcomes that are aligned to district objectives and key results.
Play an essential role in bringing Journey to 2030 goals to life for our community through the inspiration and support of educators and human-centered program design.
Model the authentic integration of instructional technology tools and solutions to enhance and personalize the teaching and learning process, including generative AI and emerging technologies.
Support the development of high-quality learning experiences for all learners , including students learning English as an additional language, students with disabilities, students needing mental health support, and students with gifted identification.
Grow and support a culture of data literacy in which educators and students embrace data as an integral part of personalized learning environments.
Support the development, implementation, and revision of curriculum, assessment, and instructional resources in collaboration with building Instructional Leadership Teams.
In collaboration with the MCS Futures Team and district leaders, offer strategic thinking and champion innovation to ensure the next iteration of Mason Quality.
Other duties as assigned.

At least five years of teaching experience
