NOTE: This is an unclassified position in the Fulton County Library System.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree in Library Science; supplemented by 3 years of professional Librarian experience, including 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
Certification as a Professional Librarian issued by the State of Georgia within six (6) months of employment. May be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license as required by area assignment.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Proficiency in performing essential functions and ability to learn, comprehend, and apply county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Examination Evaluation of education and experience based on the application. Official transcripts required at time of employment for degrees/course work used to qualify.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Provide customer service to Library patrons; respond to questions and complaints; assist patrons with library services; aid in locating materials; voter registration assistance.
Design and deliver programming; participate in committees; assist in policy development; manage program participation records; assist in developing goals and objectives; manage inventories and resources to meet goals.
Manage selection, retention, and development of assigned library collections; evaluate publications; prepare purchase orders; weed outdated materials; catalog materials.
Lead and coordinate daily work; provide technical expertise; assist staff with complex situations.
Develop and monitor program budgets as required; provide specialized reference services and bibliographic instruction.
Develop training programs; assess training needs; conduct trainings; track training ROI and department goals.
Monitor equipment and supply inventories; recommend purchases or replacements.
Participate in inventorying archives and develop archival procedures as required.
Establish and maintain community partnerships; promote services and conduct outreach.
Instruct patrons in use of catalog, databases, OPAC, Internet, and library systems; conduct formal classes as assigned.
Perform original cataloging and classification; create MARC records; update OCLC records; apply Dewey Decimal or other systems; assist with authority control as assigned.
Process inter-library loan requests; coordinate with lending libraries; manage requests and returns.
Provide circulation services; repair materials; process new/donated materials; shelf materials; restock supplies.
Prepare forms, reports, and correspondence (e.g., loan requests, schedules, statistics, receipts, voter registration forms).
Operate library equipment and computer systems; communicate with supervisors, staff, patrons, and community partners to coordinate work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
