Broadcast Traffic Manager
Job Summary
The Broadcast Traffic Manager is responsible for the accurate scheduling, coordination, and execution of commercial inventory across both radio and television stations. This role ensures advertising spots, programming elements, and daily logs are completed accurately, delivered on time, and maintained in compliance with FCC regulations and company policies. The Broadcast Traffic Manager also leads and manages a team of six traffic staff members, while partnering closely with Sales, Programming, Production, and Finance to maximize revenue, maintain inventory integrity, and support smooth daily station operations.
Key Responsibilities
Create, manage, and finalize daily commercial logs for both radio and television stations
Supervise, train, and support a team of six traffic staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines
Enter and maintain advertising orders accurately according to contracts and campaign requirements
Maximize inventory utilization while upholding separation rules, advertiser restrictions, and scheduling guidelines
Partner with Sales to resolve copy issues, makegoods, order revisions, and schedule changes
Coordinate with Production to confirm commercials are received, approved, and ready for air
Reconcile logs daily and correct discrepancies in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with FCC regulations, political advertising requirements, and company policies
Monitor spot delivery and arrange makegoods when needed
Generate and review reports related to inventory, revenue, pacing, and performance
Serve as a liaison across departments to resolve traffic and scheduling conflicts
Oversee traffic systems, such as WideOrbit, and maintain system accuracy and data integrity
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Business, or a related field preferred
3–5 years of broadcast traffic experience in radio, television, or both
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of traffic systems such as WideOrbit or similar platforms
Understanding of broadcast logs, spot rotations, inventory management, and placement strategy
Familiarity with FCC regulations and political advertising rules
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Analytical skills related to inventory management and revenue optimization
Work Environment
Office-based within a multi-platform broadcast environment (radio and television)
Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with critical daily log completion timelines
May require early mornings, late afternoons, or additional hours during political seasons or other peak periods
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating office equipment
Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, office materials)
