Human Rights Archive Intern
This onsite internship runs August 2026–May 2027, 15‑19 hrs/week, $18–$22.84 per hour. The intern reports to the Human Rights Archivist in the Collection Development Department.
What You’ll Do
Assist with library instruction: meet with instructors, select materials, develop lesson plans, and teach classes.
Provide reference services for HRA users, both in‑person and remotely.
Develop reference tools such as LibGuides.
Maintain a regular two‑hour shift on the circulation desk.
Contribute to collection development projects and activities.
Assist with public programming and outreach, including exhibitions, blogs, and social media.
Assist librarians with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Move library materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Work occasionally in environments with dust and mold exposure.
What You’ll Bring
A BA/BS and current enrollment or recent graduation in a relevant field, or enrollment in an ALA‑accredited MLS or Public History program.
Interest in human rights and social justice.
Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Initiative, adaptability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Prior special collections experience or archival coursework (preferred).
