Position Summary
Responsible for the routine operation of the library media center. Assists the library media specialist with office/clerical duties, locating, circulating, and shelving library materials, textbooks, and equipment. Supports the mission of the Library and Instructional Media Program, and promotes access to library resources by providing technical assistance to the library media specialist and assistance to teachers, students, and other patrons.

Essential Duties

Assist with creating a welcoming environment by keeping library books clean, attractive, organized, and clutter-free; create and maintain attractive library displays; provide readers’ advisory such as suggesting fiction and nonfiction titles to students.

Assist with cataloging and circulating materials; circulate books, textbooks, instructional materials, and equipment; process or request interlibrary loan requests in Destiny Library Manager and textbook transfer requests in Destiny Resource Manager; gather materials for teachers and shelve books.

Assist with reports to monitor obligations (overdue and lost), library and textbook inventory.

Assist students and teachers with access to OKCPS online resources including Destiny, Discovery Education streaming, EBSCO, GALE, PebbleGo series, SORA, Teachingbooks.net, and World Book Online.

Assist students with all aspects of technology‑related needs.

Assign devices to students; check out and check in devices using Incident IQ; create device requests; troubleshoot device issues (reset Chromebooks, iPad reset settings, powerwash, Wi‑Fi connection, charging problems); address tier‑2 issues with Client Services.

Maintain inventory control; report and create tickets for lost, missing, or stolen student devices; print name labels and barcodes; ensure availability of chargers; identify pickup/drop‑off areas; clean iPad cases and Chromebooks.

Provide policy guidance for personal care and primary use of student devices (e.g., no personal stickers or writing).

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

High School Diploma or GED required. Additionally:
Hold an Associate’s Degree or higher, having completed at least 48 credit hours of college study.

Passed the Oklahoma Graduate Entrance Test (OGET).

Passed the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment (score ≥ 455).

Passed the WorkKeys Assessment (passing score of 4 or better on all three parts).

Basic communication skills to exchange information, give simple instructions, and respond to inquiries. Ability to fill out forms and proofread written material with clear, grammatically correct English.

Ability to learn, then share with students and staff, the use of computer applications, electronic databases, and web‑based programs.

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.

Adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material.

Normal hearing and clear speaking abilities for face‑to‑face and telephone interactions.

Occasional stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Sitting for prolonged periods.

May occasionally work outside normal business hours, including weekends, under stressful deadlines.

Work Environment
Office duties performed in a well‑lit, climate‑controlled environment.
