Music Therapist - Full-Time - Day Shift
Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric hospital located in Auburn Hills, Michigan, offering comprehensive behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults.
Position Summary
The Music Therapist is responsible for the provision of music therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in patients’ behavior, cognition, social, emotional, or physical domains, and educates patients in healthy coping skills and post-discharge care in accordance with current standards of practice.
Responsibilities
Establish treatment goals and objectives to meet individual needs of patients and determine Music Therapy modality.
Evaluate each patient’s progress, document daily progress notes, and follow all documentation policies.
Interview and assess patients’ level of functioning, observe participation in sessions, and assess responses.
Attend treatment team conferences to exchange information and assist with treatment plan updates.
Use music to reveal thoughts and feelings, and manage reactions safely.
Collaborate with patients using unique musical approaches as part of treatment.
Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet program/hospital needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree/Certification in Music Therapy required.
Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) required.
Minimum 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
Employees must be in good standing to be considered for internal transfers.
