Core Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
- Assist technicians with patient restraint
- Monitor recovering surgical patients under supervision
- Walk hospitalized or boarded patients as directed
- Maintain clean, dry, and comfortable cages
- Refresh water and bedding as needed
- Report any patient concerns immediately to a technician or doctor
- Clean and reset exam rooms between appointments
- Ensure rooms are stocked and prepared
- Support treatment area organization
- Keep treatment tables wiped and ready
- Assist with moving patients as needed
- Keep laundry rotating throughout the day
- Fold and restock towels and blankets
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry area
- Assist with general cleaning tasks as assigned
- Support end-of-day cleaning responsibilities when needed
- Prepare prescription labels (under technician supervision)
- Pull medications for technician verification
- Assist with organizing pharmacy shelves
- Maintain clutter-free tech station
- Sign sympathy cards promptly (do not leave sitting on tech desk)
Qualifications
- Maintain a clean and safe treatment area
- Dispose of waste appropriately
- Ensure floors remain dry and free of hazards
- Follow OSHA and hospital safety protocols
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous animal handling experience preferred
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team mindset
- Desire to learn and grow in veterinary medicine
