Air Academy CFI
Provide flight instruction during a roughly 30min flight per camper that is in accordance with Part 61, FAA regulations, Airmen's Information Manual, advisory circulars, airport operations and EAA Policies, procedures, and curriculum.
Ensures that all flight lessons are completed according to the EAA Air Academy Curriculum
Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Curriculum
Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include Camper logbooks
Monitor maintenance condition of the training aircraft, and inform EAA maintenance personnel of any questionable items
Providing flight/ground instruction to enrolled students while maintaining the highest level of safety and standards
Maintain clean, professional environment both in the aircraft and on the EAA grounds
Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment
Step in to support staff in executing camp programming when flying is not possible
Provide assistance with pre-camp and post-camp procedures
All other duties as assigned
Certified Flight Instructor Airplane Singel Engine Land (CFI ASEL) required
Current second-class medical certificate
Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and related administrative and operational procedures and requirements
Knowledge of an ability to apply effective instructional techniques in the classroom and in flight
Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment at all times
Interpersonal/human relations skills
Verbal and written communications skills
Ability to instruct/teach
Attentiveness to detail
Aircraft piloting skills
Strong customer service skills
Typical camp or classroom environment. Possibility of extended hours, which may encompass early mornings and late evenings, exceeding 40 hours per week. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Preparation for AirVenture or other events may require lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and push and pull motions.
