Responsibilities
Oklahoma Heart Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to provide high-quality patient care and clinical support in a fast-paced cardiovascular outpatient clinic setting. Under the supervision of the Clinic Nurse Director, Clinic Director, or Physician, the Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting daily clinic operations, ensuring efficient patient flow, maintaining accurate electronic medical records (EMR), and delivering an exceptional patient experience.
This is a safety-sensitive position, as duties directly impact the health and safety of patients, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct clinical support to physicians and healthcare providers in both in-office and off-site outpatient clinic locations
Room patients, obtain detailed medical histories, and accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and cardiovascular diagnostic testing
Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms in compliance with infection control and safety standards
Sterilize and prepare medical instruments and equipment
Administer vaccines, apply dressings, and assist with minor procedures (wound care, suture/staple removal)
Triage patient phone calls and communicate clinical concerns to providers or nursing staff
Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies
Review and update electronic medical records (EMR) to ensure accuracy and completeness
Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and hospital admissions
Manage inventory by ordering and stocking clinical and office supplies
Assist patients with mobility needs while ensuring safety and comfort
Provide patient education on medications, treatment plans, and physician instructions
Document all patient interactions and clinical activities accurately in the medical record
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/Certification : BLS certification required within sixty (60) months of hire.
Experience : Six (6) months to one (1) year of continuous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
