Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides high-quality patient care and clinical support in an Oklahoma Heart Hospital outpatient clinic setting. Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Nurse Director, Clinic Director, or Physician, the Medical Assistant assists with daily clinic operations while upholding the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. This role supports efficient patient flow, accurate clinical documentation, and a positive patient experience.

This position is classified as a safety‑sensitive position, meaning Oklahoma Heart Hospital reasonably believes the duties of this role may directly impact the safety and health of the employee, patients, and others.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist physicians and providers in both in‑office and off‑site Oklahoma Heart Hospital clinic locations while following all OHH policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Manage patient flow by rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, and measuring and recording vital signs

Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing in a cardiovascular‑focused outpatient clinic environment

Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination and treatment rooms in accordance with infection control and safety standards

Prepare, maintain, and sterilize medical supplies, instruments, and equipment

Administer vaccines, apply dressings, and assist with minor clinical procedures including wound care, suture removal, and staple removal as directed

Triage patient telephone calls and communicate clinical concerns to nursing staff or physicians appropriately

Process prescription refill requests and communicate medication information with pharmacies

Review patient charts and electronic medical records (EMR) for accuracy and completeness prior to scheduled clinic visits

Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals, diagnostic tests, and hospital admissions within the Oklahoma Heart Hospital system

Order, stock, and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment

Assist patients with mobility or ambulatory needs while maintaining patient safety and dignity

Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, diet, and physician instructions to support continuity of care

Document all patient interactions, treatments, and communications accurately and thoroughly in the medical record

Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification : BLS certification required within sixty (60) months of hire.

Experience : Six (6) months to one (1) year of continuous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
