Senior Research Analyst

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Strategic Research & Prospect Development, the Senior Research Analyst conducts research on industry trends and issues of strategic importance to GOBEL clients. The role also identifies, collects, organizes, analyzes, and disseminates information on prospective donors and donor groups to help clients strengthen philanthropic fundraising efforts and benchmark performance against peers and the broader industry.

(Healthcare Philanthropy, Prospect Development)

Responsibilities

Identify, collect, and analyze publicly available biographical, organizational, and financial information to evaluate existing and potential donor prospects both at the individual and aggregate level, using several internal and external online tools and databases. Sources include complex financial and legal disclosures, corporate reports (10K, stock reports) proxy statements, foundation tax reports (IRS PF 990), and county documents (assessment records).

Resulting information is then delivered to clients in a variety of forms, including detailed profiles and reports, in order to obtain optimal outcomes.

Leverage CRM reporting and data synthesis to identify major, principal, and transformational gift prospects and provide actionable recommendations that help clients refine portfolios and maximize high‑level fundraising opportunities.

Industry & Market Research (20%)

Under the guidance of the Associate Vice President, Strategic Research & Prospect Development, undertake short- and long-term research projects relating to the healthcare philanthropy industry.

Analyze, collate, and report out on industry trends, patterns, and best practices based on available data.

Monitor publicly available fundraising data streams and identify trends and best practices.

Contribute to blogs and white papers on industry best practices and trends.

Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and practices in the field of prospect research.

Client Delivery (5%)

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on client engagements, ensuring the development of high-quality, impactful deliverables such as organizational assessments.

Engage directly with clients as needed, occasionally acting as a point of contact for research activities.

Contribute to GOBEL Research presentations, both internal and external facing.

Other Responsibilities (5%)

Contribute to the achievement of GOBEL’s departmental goals and strategic objectives.

Possess a basic understanding of AI tools, including appropriate use for efficiency, balanced with the need for human review and verification.

Adhere to confidentiality, security, and integrity standards of AFP, HIPAA, APRA, etc.

Manage special projects as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Prospect Research, Prospect Management, Development, Fundraising, Market Research and/or relevant experience.

Experience in healthcare philanthropy strongly preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in the methods of information acquisition, including use of sources (iWave, DonorSearch, Candid, ProPublica, American Hospital Directory, Census Reporter, etc).

Familiarity with CRM and data reporting, and ability to identify potential from complex data sets. Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce preferred.

Experience with data analytics and moves management strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data from a wide range of sources.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present material in a concise, professional manner.

Analytical skills, with current knowledge of prospect research methodologies, donor cultivation practices, and fundraising principles strongly preferred.

Proven ability to manage multiple assignments through prioritizing tasks and managing time. Experience and flexibility in dealing with fluctuating priorities, with the ability to remain organized to complete projects by assigned deadlines.

Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.

Adaptability and collaboration are essential for success in this role.

Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and video conferencing apps such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of Google Drive a plus.

The position requires the use of extreme discretion and personal integrity as it involves working with highly confidential information.

Ability to explain common development and research concepts and actively listen.

GOBEL offers compensation in the range of $75,000 – $110,000 based on experience and qualifications.
