Position Summary
Temporary faculty will teach undergraduate courses in advertising, public relations, and related media disciplines. Possible courses include:
MCJ 40: Introduction to Advertising and Public Relations (in-person)
MCJ 106: Publication Design
MCJ 143: Media Sales
MCJ 144: Writing to Influence
MCJ 146: Media Planning
MCJ 155: Non‑Profit Public Relations
MCJ 158: Advanced Writing to Influence
MCJ 180: Water and Strategic Media
Other courses as needed to meet student goals
Instructor Responsibilities
Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and exams. All courses must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Instructors must adhere to university and system‑wide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306.
Conditional Appointment
Appointment is contingent on budget, enrollment, and collective bargaining agreement provisions. All appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU salary range for Academic Year Lecturers (Class Code 2358). A Master’s degree holder earns $5,507–$6,677 per month (full‑time, 15 WTUs). Salary will be adjusted based on weekly teaching units assigned.
Anticipated Semester(s)
Positions are available on a rolling basis following the academic calendar. Available semesters:
Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026
Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications
PhD or MA in media, communication, journalism, or a related field with an emphasis in advertising and/or public relations from an accredited institution.
Experience
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
