CIVIL SITE DESIGN ENGINEER
Position Title: Civil Site Design Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 annually

About the Firm
Next Level Solutions is honored to recruit on behalf of one of our amazing local clients—a hands‑on civil engineering firm specializing in site design for commercial and residential real estate development. They offer broad exposure across project types and phases, so you won’t be siloed into one task or limited to a single project phase. Their engineers are involved in every stage of a project, from initial site feasibility through construction, working closely with experienced engineers and firm leadership to gain real responsibility from day one. The culture is collaborative and low on bureaucracy, valuing initiative, resourcefulness, and engineers who want to grow quickly across all aspects of site civil engineering—ideal for someone who wants visible impact and a clear path for development.

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Civil Site Design Engineer with 3–5 years of progressive experience in land development to join our client’s team. You will take on meaningful design responsibility across a diverse mix of commercial and residential projects. You’ll be exposed to the full project lifecycle—design, permitting, agency coordination, and construction support—rather than being limited to a narrow scope of work. This is an in‑office position that thrives on close collaboration and mentorship from working side by side with experienced engineers every day.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare civil site construction documents including site layout plans, grading and earthwork plans, utility plans (storm, sanitary, water), erosion and sediment control plans, and detail sheets

Perform site grading design for commercial pads, parking areas, residential lots, roadways, and stormwater management facilities

Design stormwater management systems including detention/retention basins, underground storage, and water quality BMPs in accordance with local and state regulations

Develop utility designs for storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and domestic water systems, including pipe sizing calculations and profiles

Coordinate directly with surveyors, architects, landscape architects, geotechnical engineers, traffic engineers, and other project consultants

Assist with local, county, and state permitting and regulatory agency submittals, including responding to review comments

Perform engineering calculations including hydrology/hydraulics (rational method, TR-55/TR-20), storm sewer sizing, and earthwork quantity estimates

Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and provide construction observation support

Participate in client meetings, project kickoffs, and internal design reviews

Support proposal preparation, scope development, and fee estimates alongside company leadership

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program

3–5 years of professional experience in civil site design for commercial and/or residential land development projects

Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT/FE) certification required; progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure strongly preferred

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site layout, grading, pipe networks, corridors, and surface modeling

Working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling software (HydroCAD, StormCAD, ICPR, or similar)

Familiarity with local, county, and state land development codes, zoning ordinances, and stormwater regulations

Experience producing complete construction document sets from schematic design through final permit‑ready plans

Strong written and verbal communication skills—direct communication with clients, agencies, and contractors is expected

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with commercial retail, mixed‑use, or multi‑family residential site design

Familiarity with GIS software and/or Bluebeam Revu

Experience with municipal and agency review processes (DOT, DEP, Army Corps, etc.)

Exposure to LEED, sustainable site design, or green infrastructure practices

Self‑starter mentality—comfortable taking ownership of tasks and managing workload with minimal oversight

Benefits

Competitive salary range of $75,000 – $95,000 based on experience and qualifications

Performance‑based annual bonus program

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance

401(k) retirement plan with employer match

Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays

Professional development support including PE exam preparation, continuing education, and conference attendance

Direct mentorship from senior engineers and principals

Broad project exposure across commercial and residential sectors
