Stumptown Art Studio is seeking a part-time Clay Studio Manager.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the Clay Studio, including firing, inventory management (clay and glaze orders), and general maintenance of equipment including kilns, clay trap, etc.
Provide guidance and support to Studio Co-Op Members and Open Studio participants
Develop and implement programming to promote the Clay Studio and engage the community
Onboard new Co-Op Members and Open Studio participants
Frequently interact with Stumptown Art Studio personnel, such as instructors, Executive Director, and General Manager
Qualifications
Experience working with a variety of clay bodies and loading / unloading kilns
Understanding low-fire and mid-fire (cone .06 and 6) pottery and glazes and firing techniques
Working with and creating reclaim clay
Knowledge of mid-fire glazes and how to mix and prep for Studio use
Strong organizational and communication skills
Self-motivation
Collaborative and adaptable in group settings
Wheel throwing and hand-building experience preferred
Ability to lift and carry 50lb boxes of clay on occasion
Ability to go up and down stairs - the Clay Studio is in the basement level of Stumptown Art Studio
This 15-20 hour work week is a part-time role that offers flexible hours in a supportive, collaborative setting for creative individuals that are passionate about art and the world of pottery.
