The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is seeking a highly qualified Ceramics Studio Technician to work at CSMA’s primary Finn Center site in Mountain View. This is a part-time position that reports to the Visual Arts Program Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support operations of a busy ceramics studio, including organization and maintenance of tools and supplies, facilitating workflow of class work.
Perform kiln operations, including loading and unloading of student work, developing and executing kiln firing schedules.
Maintain ceramics program materials, adhering to studio operational and safety protocols, including supply inventory, mixing dry glazes, maintaining clay waste and recycling clay bodies.
Work closely with program staff to identify supply needs and ensure efficient operations of the ceramics program.
Communicate with faculty regarding firing schedules and studio operations support as needed.
Demonstrate a commitment to CSMA’s mission and values.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2+ yrs experience with ceramics studio tech role.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Competent computer skills, particularly MS Office and GSuite.
Physical Demands
Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
