Overview
Do you love hands‑on arts projects and working with children? JCC Greater Boston’s Camp Kaleidoscope in Newton, MA is seeking an energetic and creative Sneaker & Streetwear Design Instructor to inspire young artists this summer.
What You’ll Do
Lead 4–5 Sneaker & Streetwear design classes daily, covering t‑shirts, sneakers, hoodies, socks, tie‑dying, up‑cycling, and more.
Plan, prepare, and lead age‑appropriate activities that foster skill‑building and exploration.
Ensure the safety and well‑being of campers during activities.
Create an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment and adapt activities to meet diverse camper needs.
Maintain, organize, and request necessary supplies and equipment.
Support camp‑wide special events and large‑group programming as assigned.
Assist with overall camp operations (drop‑off/pick‑up, transitions, lunch, supervision, etc.).
Responsibilities (Additional)
Collaborate with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive camper experience.
Manage risks and maintain a safe environment during all activities.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other scheduled sessions.
Represent JCC Greater Boston in a positive and welcoming manner.
Follow all JCC policies and procedures.
Qualifications
High‑school degree preferred; college degree, certification, or equivalent experience in arts, design, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 1 season of experience as a summer camp or related instructor.
Portfolio or examples of design projects preferred.
Customer‑service experience a plus.
Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
Creativity, flexibility, patience, and ability to adapt activities for diverse camper needs.
Positive, energetic attitude and commitment to fostering an inclusive camp environment.
Excellent group‑management skills and safety awareness.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment.
Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 30–40 pounds.
Ability to sit, kneel, and get down to eye level with children.
Job Details
Hourly position, 8:30 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday. Competitive starting pay $20 per hour, with final rate based on qualifications and experience.
