As a Consumer Insights Manager, you’ll play a key part in driving CarMax’s success as a customer-centric company by helping the organization:

Further understand how consumers shop for and sell cars

Improve the customer experience across channels

Better convert customers into buyers & sellers

Develop and enhance strategies that meet evolving consumer needs

This role will provide the opportunity to apply strategic thinking, problem solving, market research methodologies, and data analytics to unique and complex problems.

This individual will be a leader within the CarMax marketing team, informing, persuading, influencing, and supporting consumer-driven initiatives within marketing and beyond.

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

Design and lead research & analysis initiatives, utilizing in-depth knowledge of CarMax’s business and market research expertise

Analyze research findings, both qualitative and quantitative data, and translate results into clear and useful business insights

Act as a subject matter expert for customer and survey data, consulting with stakeholders on strategic opportunities and priorities

Create and distribute customer experience-focused reporting to influence strategic decision-making

Partner both within the team and cross-functionally to make recommendations, influence change, and inform strategies and decision-making

Partner with and lead relationships with research vendors for specific initiatives and projects

Supervise other team members on projects and business objectives, providing tactical guidance and performance-based feedback to support their development

Qualifications and Requirements

Four-year degree in an analytical field and/or the social sciences

5+ years of relevant experience in customer analytics and/or research

Strong analytical thinker with a proven track record of providing actionable insights and clear strategic direction

Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including:

Survey design

Consumer focus group and IDI design and moderation

Statistical techniques including regression and multivariate analysis

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Strong teamwork skills and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to deliver work

Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, relational databases

Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics and BI tools such as Tableau is a plus

Willingness to travel periodically for project work

Work Location and Arrangement
This role will be based out of the CarMax Midtown Office (Richmond, VA) and associates will work onsite 5 days per week.
