
Human Resources Coordinator

The Assembly Republican Administration and Human Resource Office is currently seeking a service-oriented, highly organized professional who is interested in learning the full scope of human resources, administrative, and operational functions and building a long-term career within New York State government.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to understand how recruiting, onboarding, payroll, travel reimbursement, and administrative functions work together to support an effective organization, and who is motivated to take on increasing responsibility as their skills and experience grow.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Lead onboarding processes including employee paperwork, orientation coordination, and verification requirements
Coordinate multiple areas of the recruiting process, including working with Directors to generate job postings and internet-based recruiting
Continually source candidates through internal referrals, online job boards, social media, and other recruitment sources
Schedule interviews and provide follow-up information to interviewees
Develop an understanding of how recruiting, onboarding, payroll, travel reimbursement, and administrative processes intersect
Process travel vouchers for Assemblymembers and staff and review submissions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable guidelines
Disseminate payroll, travel, and personnel documents to appropriate departments for processing
Utilize Word, Excel, Airtable to prepare correspondence, maintain spreadsheets, track recruitment metrics, and ensure numerical accuracy
Create and update job descriptions as needed
Conduct reference checks and employment verifications
Maintain resume databases and confidential personnel files
Screen and direct phone calls and distribute correspondence
Maintain office calendars and schedule meetings
Follow up with staff and Assemblymembers to ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll and travel documentation
Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential personnel, payroll, travel, and recruitment information with absolute discretion and professionalism
Comfort with basic math, numerical accuracy, and working with data related to payroll, travel reimbursement, and tracking metrics
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong organizational skills and follow-through
Self-motivated, dependable, and interested in professional growth
EXPECTED HOURS:
Office hours are 9:00–5:00. Occasional evening work may be required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field required
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum one year of relevant HR, recruiting, administrative, payroll, or travel-processing experience preferred
SALARY:
$45,000-$48,000 based on experience and education
