Smart Building Technologies is seeking a motivated Design Engineer Assistant to support our engineering team in the design of building automation systems.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is looking to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects.
What you'll do:
Work with engineers to determine the most cost-effective mix of products and installation methods to meet project requirements
Assist in designing building automation systems, including mechanical layouts, electrical drawings, bill of materials, sequence of operations, valve schedules, damper schedules, and DDC panel layouts
Support the creation of shop drawings for project handoff to operations
Prepare product submittals, as well as operations and maintenance manuals
Assist in designing building automation network architecture (LON, Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet)
Generate DDC point databases and assist with startup and checkout documentation for commissioning
Participate in job site walkthroughs with contractors and/or building management as needed
Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs)
Maintain organized and up-to-date job folders with all relevant project documentation
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
0–3 years of experience in engineering, building systems, or a related field
Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and business operations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment

Base Pay : $45k - $60k+, Commensurate with experience.
