Job Description
Material Handlers are responsible for safely operating forklift equipment within the manufacturing facility and distribution center ensuring that quality products are received, produced, and shipped in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Operate forklift equipment safely and efficiently to receive, handle, and store product in accordance with HACCP and GMP standards
Inspect inbound materials and products for damages, defects, and discrepancies; promptly report any product deficiencies, food, or safety concerns to supervisor
Utilize the scanning system to create accurate locations and perform accurate inventory transactions
Learn and maintain customer standards for product specifications and acceptable quality
Build pallets of various sizes and dimensions and load pallets on delivery trucks
Responsible for monthly inventory and cycle counting of receiving area
Perform vehicle safety checks and report discrepancies to supervisor
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping warehouse and workstation areas neat, cleaning up aisles, picking up leftover pallets, sweeping the floors, keeping exits clear and free from obstructions and ensuring all equipment is stored at the end of shift
Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to supervisor immediately
Support and comply with GMP's; understand and follow emergency action plan
Support food safety, quality, and legality
Ensure the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Forklift certified or willingness to become certified
Experience in a manufacturing warehouse or distribution environment preferred
High attention to detail with good organizational skills
Basic computer skills with the ability to use a scan gun, receive purchase orders, print labels, make shipments, and move materials with our ERP system
Basic math skills with ability to perform and document cycle counts
Demonstrated ability to follow and carry out instructions with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment resulting in consistent productivity
Positive and flexible team player
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Dependable and punctual
