What you’ll do
Provide accurate, timely, cost-effective engineering solutions that work well within the limits of our manufacturing equipment and assembly capabilities and meet customer requirements, using Lean/Sigma techniques. Solve manufacturing and assembly problems utilizing problem‑solving techniques and methodologies. Work collaboratively with other engineers, production personnel, purchasing personnel, and customers to create optimal solutions to support the business. Create Engineering tree (task list) to comply with customer/vehicle specifications. Create solid model to correspond with engineering tree. Pull ECN numbers and start the ECN process, corresponding with engineering tree. Determine effectiveness of the engineering solutions, understanding unintended consequences to manufacturing processes, tooling, and option capability. Initiate changes to drawings, solid models, and bills of material. Apply knowledge of FMVSS/CMVSS/GVWR regulations. Utilize Aurora, Solid Works, and AutoCAD Design Software. Use knowledge of vehicle design, testing, and certification process. Provide engineering solutions that maximize financial profitability. Utilize knowledge of ANSI‑Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
What you need to be successful
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a foreign equivalent.
One (1) year of experience as an Engineer, Engineering Assistant, Engineering Intern, or a substantially similar position.
Experience in determining the effectiveness of engineering solutions.
Experience in creating Engineering trees (task lists).
Experience in creating solid models to correspond with Engineering trees.
Proficiency in Aurora, Solid Works, and AutoCAD Design Software.
Knowledge of ANSI‑Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Ability to solve manufacturing and assembly problems.
Understanding of vehicle design, testing, and certification process.
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and readiness for market release prior to launch.
Employer will accept pre‑baccalaureate experience.
