
Mechanical Design Engineer Summer Intern

The Small Airborne Effectors Division, within the Leidos Kinetic Effects Business Area, currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer Summer Intern to work at our Huntsville, AL campus providing support to a variety of design and integration programs related to missile systems and unmanned aircraft. This is a dynamic opportunity in which talented mechanical engineer interns can thrive working on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the airborne systems arena.
Primary Responsibilities
Support engineering design and integration activities for aspects of airborne systems (missiles and unmanned aircraft).
Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings.
Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
Work in a lab environment testing and assembling hardware.
Basic Qualifications
Applicant must be actively working toward a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university.
Applicant must be a US Citizen.
Applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or above.
Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30‑lbs.
Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
Applicant must be willing to work in‑office in Huntsville, AL.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standard
Experience with SolidWorks CAD Software
Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers
Compensation
Pay Range: $48,100.00 – $86,950.00
