**Description** Have a passion for airborne systems? Leidos' Defense Systems, Small Airborne Effectors Division, is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to work at our Huntsville, AL campus providing support to a variety of conceptual design and integration programs related to missile strike systems and unmanned aircraft. This is a dynamic opportunity in which talented drafters can thrive by producing and maintaining mechanical drawings for multidisciplinary projects in the airborne systems arena. We are seeking a highly motivated, trained, and talented mechanical drafter to work closely with mechanical designers to foster advanced technology programs from the research and development phase to full productization. Primary Responsibilities: + Aid mechanical engineers in creating technical drawing packages from mechanical CAD design. + Use of standard tolerancing along with GD&T tolerancing to achieve appropriate TDP Level for program needs ranging from level I to III. + Ability to manipulate CAD as required to complete drawing package needs. + Work closely with the Configuration Management team to release, process ECOs, etc. in PLM Windchill + Coordinate with purchasing department and outside machine shops to procure hardware. + Work closely with manufacturing teams to facilitate the transition from prototype hardware to a deliverable product. Basic Qualifications: + Minimum of BS degree in mechanical drafting and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience. Or Associate of Science (AS) with a focus on Computer aided Design (AETM-CAD) and 4 - 6 years of experience. Or High School diploma and 6-8 years of experience. + Experience with 2D/3D CAD (particularly SOLIDWORKS), fabrication drawings, and basic modeling techniques. + ASME Y14 & GD&T experiences. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Willingness to try and learn new skills, and/or to refine existing skills. + Ability to perform physical work such a lifting up to 30-lbs. Preferred Qualifications + Prior experience with flight hardware (missiles, UAVs, etc.) + Ability to obtain SECRET security clearance or higher. + Availability to travel to support programs if needed (
