
Technical Officer, NIWL Social Media

Job Summary

Temporary part‑time (24 hours a week) basis until end of August.
Assisting in the creation and delivery of social media content, organizational materials and announcements, events and other deliverables pertaining to project communications. Focusing on developing and delivering clear, concise and coordinated messaging across multiple communications vehicles and on fostering opportunities to raise the profile of the projects. Working across all communications platforms, including email, website, and social media platforms. Ensuring quality, maintaining brand alignment, and delivering smooth content production from start to finish. Assisting unit lead in meeting all unit deliverables. Planning and coordinating meetings and events as needed.
Accountabilities
Develop social media content, applying appropriate branding
Update learning resources for projects, including new branding templates and revising content
Assist in writing and reviewing project content, including News/blog entries
Assist with website management as needed
Copyedit learning content, presentation slides, collateral materials, etc.
Support any global or live events as needed
Participate in meetings with project teams to learn about learning and workforce development strategies and goals, learning content development, and program implementation
Assist with project‑related administrative tasks as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
Applied Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of principles, theories and methods of communications, public relations, and journalism.
Demonstrated interest in related subject area through studies and/or work experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to write, edit, and manage all facets of a publication.
Strong attention to detail and copyediting skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time in a virtual environment.
Ability to work based on deadlines and write effectively for the appropriate audience.
Experience with Canva, WordPress, and/or Drupal is a plus.
Education
Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university, or recently awarded a Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in English, Communications, Design, Education, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or Related Field.
Experience
2+ years of writing, editing, and publications experience.
Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
Spanish, Polish, or Kannada language skills are a plus.
Prior experience in a non‑governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
Typical Physical Demands
Remote office environment.
Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.
