Description
You will be the Mechanical Engineering Design Senior for the Future Terminal Interceptor capability development team. Our team is responsible for developing key technologies to support the follow‑on upper tier missile program to THAAD. The next generation missile system will play a critical role in our Warfighter's ability to defeat the growing complex threats, with the vehicle enabled by next‑generation seekers, controls, avionics, and communications subsystems.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Mechanical Engineering Designer you will support the Integrated Product Team, creating detailed designs, layouts, and drawings for various components and subassemblies. You will play a key role in developing and generating CREO layouts, detailed drawings, and design documentation, ensuring seamless collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Responsibilities
Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub‑assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles.
Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM.
Coordinating with the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence.
Managing drawing releases, answering CRs, generating CNs, and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews.
Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, preferably in an Engineering related field.
Sound Engineering/Technical foundation and ability to grasp complex issues quickly.
Skilled at creating and releasing part and assembly models and detailed drawings using Creo (ProEngineer) and Windchill.
Experience creating drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 standards.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
Capable of performing complex, precision optical tolerance analyses of housings and lenses.
Capable of performing in a fast‑paced, dynamic, inclusive team environment.
Limited travel as necessary.
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Detail and process oriented.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with optics, sensor, and/or integrated optical systems.
Security Clearance
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
