Description
Mechanical Engineering Designer Staff for an Advanced Programs weapon program, focused on ruggedized optical subassemblies. Responsibilities include developing and implementing detailed designs and layouts of the weapon, structures, and subassemblies, driving innovation and excellence in the field.

What You Will Be Doing

Supporting the Integrated Product Team by creating detailed designs, layouts, and drawings for various components and subassemblies.

Generating CREO layouts, detailed drawings, and design documentation for ICDs, components, sub‑assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles.

Building BOMs and creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM.

Coordinating with IPT team members, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence.

Managing drawing releases, answering change requests, generating change notices, and supporting change boards and design reviews.

Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, optical performance, and structural/thermal benefits.

Interfacing directly with optical and sensor manufacturers to ensure product integrity in accordance with design requirements, performance, and test parameters, and ensuring deliverables are achieved on schedule.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field.

Strong background in hardware design and optical hardware requirements.

Experience with Windchill PLM, creating part and assembly models, and detailed drawings using Creo.

Experience creating drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 standards.

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.

Ability to perform optical design, tolerance analysis, and testing, and to drive supplier execution.

Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Detail‑ and process‑oriented, capable of working in a fast‑paced, dynamic, inclusive team environment.

Limited travel as necessary.

Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Familiarity with missile structures and sensors.

Previous experience with integrated optical assemblies.

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen. Requires a Secret security clearance, with an investigation or CV date within 5 years.
