Design Engineer

Job Overview: A growing industrial solutions provider is seeking a hands-on Design Engineer to support the design and execution of custom pumping systems and skid-mounted equipment. This role bridges engineering and manufacturing and is ideal for someone who understands how systems are built—not just how they are designed.

The position works cross-functionally with sales, project management, and fabrication teams to develop practical, buildable solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design pump skids, piping layouts, and equipment assemblies
• Develop 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings (layouts, spool drawings, BOMs)
• Size and select pumps, valves, and related system components
• Interpret customer specifications, P&IDs, and contract documents
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, NSF, ASME)
• Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
• Support projects from concept through production
• Assist with troubleshooting, design improvements, and issue resolution
• Review submittals and prepare documentation packages

Required Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in mechanical design, piping, or pump systems
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)
• Strong understanding of fabrication methods (welding, machining, assembly)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with fire pump systems (NFPA 20)
• Knowledge of hydraulics and fluid systems
• Experience creating P&IDs
• Familiarity with ERP systems and bill of materials (BOM) structures
• Background in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
