The Position
STACK is seeking a Sr. Director, Design Management to drive the evolution of design standards, digital engineering capabilities, and innovation initiatives across the Americas. This role is accountable for advancing STACK’s data center design strategy, overseeing the integration of digital technologies, and ensuring that facilities are developed to meet the highest standards of efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

As a Senior Leader, the Director will guide a cross‑functional team, manage relationships with external design partners, and serve as a subject matter expert on data center innovation. This position will partner with the VP of Architecture to provide reporting to the Board of Directors, ensuring visibility into design excellence, innovation initiatives, and capital impact.

Lead and mentor a team of design and engineering professionals, building a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Drive innovation initiatives across the Americas, aligning with STACK’s long‑term strategic vision for data center design and digital engineering.

Oversee campus master planning efforts, integrating automation, AI, and digital twin technologies into the design process.

Review, approve, and oversee final delivery of project contract documents prepared by third‑party consultants, ensuring budget, schedule, and quality objectives are met.

Maintain and evolve STACK’s Basis of Design (BOD) documentation, including Revit‑based digital standards, test‑fit playbooks, and BIM standards.

Support construction teams with clash detection, conflict resolution, and the implementation of digital technologies for improved project delivery.

Partner with Process and Development teams to implement Power BI dashboards, cost and trend analysis, and other tools to support data‑driven decision‑making.

Manage multi‑project design deviation logs to inform long‑term process improvements and cost efficiencies.

Provide leadership in the adoption of Digital Twin technologies, establishing a roadmap for future implementation across STACK campuses.

Communicate design policies, practices, and innovations across the company, ensuring consistent application of standards and compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

Present updates on innovation strategy, budget performance, and major initiatives to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Serve as a thought leader in the data center industry, keeping STACK at the forefront of design and engineering trends.

The Details

Location: Plano, TX (will consider remote for well qualified candidates)

Up to 30% domestic travel

Must Have Qualifications

Master of Architecture OR Professional Engineering degree (Structural, Mechanical, or related discipline).

10+ years of progressive design or engineering experience, including at least 5 years in the data center sector with hyperscale or enterprise clients.

Demonstrated success managing multi‑disciplinary teams and delivering large‑scale design initiatives.

Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, Revit, AutoCAD, and industry‑standard project management tools.

Expertise in BIM standards, site master planning, and integration of digital engineering processes.

Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management and board‑level reporting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders.

Strong initiative with proven track record of process improvement and innovation leadership.

Compensation Range
$216,000.00 - $249,000.00
