Summary
The Visual Inspector is primarily responsible for visual and quality inspection of the finished products and determines the acceptability of finished product while immediately reporting any discrepancies from established standards. Must quickly analyze problems and give corrective action or determine coat
o coat sequences under the direction of the shift supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

Maintains on-line visual quality associated with the coating process and immediately reports discrepancies from established standards with appropriate plant personnel

Quickly analyzes problems and gives corrective action or determines coat / no coat sequences under the direction of the shift supervisor

Communicates with Coater Operators, QC Lab Inspection and supervision on appearance adjustments

Reads, comprehends and interprets production schedules

Performs and interprets visual test required for product

Performs other testing as required with specified equipment in place

Identifies defects on strip, mill related or coater defects, Call out on phone system

Operates InkJet printer

Inputs and retrieves information to and from the AS400 and frame and Portal system

Experience and ability to make quick decisions when supervisor is not readily available

Collect and record data as directed by management

Determines the acceptability of finished product by comparison to a given set of standards

Access, input, and receive information from a computer

Maintains clean and organized work area according to 6S standards.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Use equipment that may require a high degree of coordination and precise adjustments.

Actively participates in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash, sweeping work areas, and returning materials and equipment to their proper locations

Adheres to all safety and work rules

Adheres to job specific SOPs

Assists and trains new employees

Maintains regular and on-time attendance

Reads and comprehends instructions regarding new equipment, equipment changes and/or procedural changes

Performs miscellaneous assignments as directed

Use computer to enter and retrieve information

Qualifications

High school level reading and writing, visual acuity to read labels, meters, gauges, documents and instructions

Six months work experience in an industrial or warehouse environment with fork lifts

Ability to safely operate small manual and electric hand tools

Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays
