Overview
Online Resources & Communications Assistant — BROOKINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 5-1
Location: Brookings | Status: Full-time with benefits | Salary: $21.32/hour

Responsibilities
Primary function: Provide support to end-users for the student management system, Infinite Campus (IC), and other programs used by the district. Evaluate issues, offer solutions, and conduct research; collaborate with SMS support staff and submit cases for program issues. Prepare customized reports for local school needs. Support administration in communicating with stakeholders using online tools. Monitor, coordinate, and update District Website content to ensure accuracy. Create and update district social media posts and prepare other district communications. Act as the District’s registrar through the online registration process.
Performance responsibilities include:
Student Management Systems (SMS): troubleshoot and resolve SMS questions; submit tickets and work with SMS vendors to solve issues; research and implement new applications that work with Infinite Campus and Canvas; attend training and relay information to staff on system updates, best practices, and issues; provide information, training, and support to school staff on SMS use (scheduling, gradebook, report cards, reporting, data entry procedures, parent portal, ad hoc reporting, etc.); review security settings and update after releases; annual uploads of staff and student information; annual Civil Rights Data Collection reporting; state and federal reporting and ensuring district compliance; end-of-year signoff with the SD Department of Education; work with 3rd party vendors to implement new programs; produce various reports for district administrators.
Communication/Website: build, monitor, and update the District Website content; set up admissions and parent pages; prepare surveys; maintain Voice Messenger through IC; use Email Messenger for district-wide communications; assist with social media posts; prepare training documents
ewsletters.
Registrar: register new students online; greet and assist families; manage online registration for current students and Kindergarten/Preschool registration; review and approve online enrollment applications.
New Staff: set up Infinite Campus accounts with appropriate access; provide training during staff in-services and ongoing instructional opportunities.
General: customer service and office coverage; miscellaneous data entry and filing; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma and some post-secondary education.
Related experience in student management systems preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with a variety of individuals, independently and as part of a team.
Technology skills; clerical and typing skills with emphasis on accuracy.
Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding district personnel and administrative business.
Reporting
Reports to: Director of Technology & Human Resources
Physical Requirements
Normal duties are sedentary at a desk; bending, stretching; mobility around the office; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Evaluation
This position is responsible to the Director of Technology and Human Resources; performance will be evaluated yearly by them.
