Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in original machine design (not just redesign work). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment and enjoys creating complex, custom machinery from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom machinery and equipment from concept to completion
  • Create detailed layouts, assemblies, and component designs using SolidWorks
  • Develop machine concepts, mechanisms, and motion systems
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, and service teams to ensure designs are buildable and functional
  • Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and component selection
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Continuously improve designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability


Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Associate Degree (2-year technical degree) + 7+ years of machine design experience, OR
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
  • Proven experience in designing machinery from the ground up (not limited to modifications or redesigns)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine components and systems
  • Experience with machine layouts and system integration
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and drawings)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with packaging, converting, or automated machinery
  • Knowledge of servo systems, motion control, or high-speed equipment
  • Experience working in a custom machine-building environment
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly practices
