Phillips Academy seeks a Web Platform Developer (WPD) for a two-year role to develop and maintain the front-end and back-end of its academic placement and practice platforms. This is a full-time, 12 month, benefits eligible, on-campus position. The WPD plays a central role in sustaining the Academy’s academic web ecosystem, with primary responsibility for the evolution of EduCompass and Amplify—two integrated Ruby on Rails applications supporting student placement, onboarding, assessment, and instructional content.

Responsibilities

Enhancing the codebase

Supporting annual placement cycles

Onboarding partner schools

Deploying assessments

Curating question banks

Monitoring performance

Contributing to long‑term sustainability and governance planning

Working with minimal supervision, the WPD translates internal and external users’ needs and requirements into technical solutions while managing multiple concurrent priorities.

This position reports to the Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), with additional direction and guidance provided by the Director of the Tang Institute. The WPD collaborates closely with OIT staff, faculty, administrators, and partner‑school stakeholders to support the Academy’s academic and operational objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
