
Business Development Manager

A client of ours is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead strategic growth initiatives in the water and transportation infrastructure sectors across Texas. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, leading proposal development, managing key client relationships, and overseeing marketing strategy.
The ideal candidate brings deep AEC industry experience, strong public-sector relationships, and a proven ability to win work in competitive procurement environments.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within water and transportation infrastructure markets
Build and maintain strong relationships with public sector clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders
Serve as Key Account Manager for select clients, expanding and strengthening long‑term partnerships
Lead proposal development efforts and manage pursuit strategies for RFQs/RFPs
Oversee marketing initiatives and ensure consistent brand positioning
Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline aligned with growth targets
Collaborate with technical and operational teams to align business development strategy with firm capabilities
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, professional associations, and networking functions
Monitor market trends and provide strategic insights to executive leadership
Lead and support teaming strategies with consulting firms and contractors
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree or P.E. license a plus)
10+ years of business development experience within the AEC industry
Strong knowledge of Texas infrastructure markets, particularly transportation and water
Established relationships with public agencies, private sector clients, and the consulting community
Proven track record of securing public‑sector contracts through RFQs/RFPs
Familiarity with Texas public agency procurement processes
Experience in proposal writing and marketing strategy
Existing network of consulting firms and contractors to support teaming opportunities
Active involvement in professional societies and industry organizations
Strategic thinker with strong execution skills
Self‑starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability
Willingness to travel regionally as needed
