Design Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer plays a critical technical role in delivering high-quality residential and site development projects. The Project Engineer proactively identifies design conflicts, integrates constructability into decision‑making, and coordinates directly with clients, municipalities, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless execution.
Job Functions
Prepare plan sheets (grading, drainage, utilities, paving) for residential and site development projects with close supervision.
Perform basic calculations (hydraulics, utility sizing, earthwork).
Support entitlement and permitting documentation.
Work directly with internal engineering and design staff to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with construction administration documentation (clarification sketches, product submittal review, RFI support) when directed.
Maintain drafting accuracy and follow Spiars’ standards.
Competencies
Foundational civil engineering knowledge and ability to learn quickly.
Basic proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and utility tools.
High attention to detail and strong self‑checking habits.
Clear, concise internal communication.
Ability to take direction and integrate feedback effectively.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) Certification
Experience in land/site development or civil engineering internship
Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
